The lads dont care, it would save them running a new cable. They would reuse the cable, probably just remake the connections or possible upgrade the white connection point on the wall to the newer type.

They won't care how your house is wired. They might not even have to send a tech out. You might be able to get one of the self install boxes.

If you're currently getting the analog channels in the bedroom then go ahead and order the multiroom option and specify self-install, they'll send the box out with a courier and the setup is a breeze, just make sure that the TV has a SCART socket, it would need to be very old or a crappy cheap model not to have one.

You might have to wait an extra day for all of the channels you're getting downstairs to be available on the new box but you can call a number and get it activated immediately, all the details are in a letter which comes with the new digital box.

I ordered a multiroom digital box for the bedroom last Tuesday, it arrived on Friday and I had all of the channels activated by 6 p.m.

If you order Multiview on-line, where is the option to opt for self install? Can't see it anywhere, it just automatically adds on €50 as install charge. Do you have to rinf up and ask for self-install?

I had exactly the same experience so had to call them because I wanted to do self-install but the €50 install charge wouldn't go away on the web form.

Is it because they don't have a record of a 2nd point in the house? (they used to charge for this, but sure didn't most just split, thus avoiding the charge, then digital came out and to view a 2nd you need a multiview box)

I'd prefer just do it (more neatly) myself

I had UPC installers around this morning to install a +box and multi room. The attic room where I wanted the 2nd box installed has a tv point but it wasn't wired so they said they couldn't install the 2nd box.I asked them could they just leave the box and I'd take care of it myself but they wouldn't.My plan was to run one box off the other UPC box as before I wired my own cable up the side of the house and ran a different cable receiver box off the UPC one which worked fine until UPC rolled out NGA 3.So I rang NTL later on and asked one of their sales staff could they just courier out the 2nd box but they refused point blank. They said I would have to pay €50 to get the 2nd point wired and €20 to get it activated. Is there anyway around this €70 fee to get multi room viewing?
