I've often lurked around here reading posts and have a huge amount of respect for your organisational skills!

I apologise in advance that I don't know a huge amount about zombies, I'm a wimp and can't watch scary movies. But with our recent weather and watching news reports about the earthquake in Haiti yesterday it got me thinking about a few things!

So for whatever reason the cause may be : Z-Day, natural disaster, weather conditions etc..

    WHAT IF

    There's no water ..
    No mobile phone coverage ..
    No internet access ..
    No radio or TV ..
Shops and garages closed (ok I know you can loot stuff! :o)
Airports and all public transport closed ..
    Hospitals abandoned ..

I'm sure I've left stuff off my list but you get the jist.
    So my capable boardsies...

How do you plan to survive?
    Do you have a plan?
I don't and it scares me that I don't!!

I'm assuming all those things will be gone. I have access to an underground water supply, I have access to a big generator I know where the fuel for it is scattered around locally but the ultimate plan is to make a composter and other methods to generate electricity and fuel. I know plenty of people growing food now and methods for increasing the output of food production through modern methods.

There will be no problem surviving, we've lived for thousands of years without modern technology and the reduction in population will make things much easier.

I would suggest you read the other threads on scenarios and survival and science. This should give you an idea of how to prep and what to do and where other boardsies will be.

Other than that I think you're fooked and destined to be Z food.

    Z food?????? Fooked????????

OK ok which is why I posted the thread in the first place I'd like to survive....

I have read lots of the other threads..:p

Food -I know how to grow food.. so I better get moving on getting seeds and planting them. They could even be grown indoors if the temperature is freezing.

Water - I'll have to find a natural source near me.

Heat - burn wood and furniture.

Electricity - ? ? what would i need it for?

Communication - CB radio, read this in another thread, what signal do they work off? Would they still work. Don't you need to plug them in and charge battery?

Travel - depending on amount of petrol in car? walk or use bicycle!

Thanks for the replies so far :)

It's the loss of oil that will be toughest to deal with. Has anybody here read anything about peak oil?

I personally think you should avoid burning furniture[I mean not use it as your first option,if you're stuck then to hell with it]
A bit of comfort will be worth a lot.

Oil should be no problem to get on without, the world is going to get a lot smaller post z-day, assuming you've taken our advice and fled for the country.Cut down some trees and use that as fuel.

as for food there are books on Irish wild plants that are prefectly edible on the fly, before you find a place to settle down.

I don't know about that, once Zed day rolls out to months, all the oil stores won't disappear. Looters and radiers will get alot but we should still have enough oil to make the things we want to work.

I can design a system that allows, running cold and hot water withourt power and oil. The heating system will heat radiators and cylinder without electricity. All we need is timber and a match.

Or even better and to save yourself the work just befriend a farmer. I've been encouraging all my friends with land to start growing food.

The greatest advantage of human society is you don't actually need any skills as long as you know how to access people with the skills you require.

Isn't that a skill in it self?

You were in the middle of a big city like Los Angeles, the outbreak has already happened a week ago, every is dead, you are inside your apartment with no guns and food. What would do to survive?

depends on how you managed a week without noticing the zombie apocolypse happening.

    I'd probably go to
    Bill Murray's
house like they did in zombieland[Sorry,if I just ruined that film for you],that worked out okay
