My First Fall

So I'm relatively new to running, only started last October, and I only have 1 race under my belt. Have to say I'm enjoying it so far.

Last night was my first night back after 1. Christmas 2. Sickness (Just a cold & ear infection) 3. "The BIG FREEZE"

I decided to go out again tonight as I was feeling good today after lastnight's 5K. I went out for a 7K this evening, and all was going well. I was almost finished, just around the corner from my house - when BANG! my toe clipped a bit of un-even pavement and I went on my snot! Face First! I tried to stay up, and I managed 1 or 2 steps... but I couldn't avoid it.

It was cold-ish this evening so I was wearing gloves, but I'd taken them off about 10 mins before the fall... so my hands are a bit grazed.

I'm actually lucky that I only came away with grazes on the palms of my hands cos I ended up flat out, face down. It must have been instinct, but when my hands hit the deck I somehow threw my head & feet up in the air -I was in a backwards U shape (while simultaneously shouting "OH F**K") and landed on my chest.

I was in shorts but my knees and legs are grand, and because of the whole throwing the head back business I just avoided whacking my chin off the ground.

It sounds weird, but I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later, and I now feel like a 'proper' runner! :D

Anyone else care to share their horror stories? There's bound to be a few with the weather we had recently!
