Do I need an ATA?

Hi Guys. I have 2 questions:

I just bought a 1-yr SKype subscription for a number in the U.S. The number is the same area code as all my family and friends. I forwarded the number to my irish landline but it only works if the computer is switched off. Plus, if someone calls the Skype number while I'm on the computer, I can't answer the call. I have a VOIP phone attached to my pc. So

So my question is, do I need to get an ATA box so I can answer the Skype calls on my computer? I'm not sure why I cannot answer the computer phone. I press the VOIP button but it doesn't answer the call. If I click on the VOIP button then the answer button it still does not work.

I'm new to all this and looking to save money on international calls. Plus, it will hopefully be easier for my family to keep in touch if all they have to do is dial a local number.

Secondly, can I forward the Skype number to my Nokia E51?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So it looks like I had a bad phone connection. I swapped out the telephone cable and it now works perfectly.

So question 2 still remains: Can I use Skype on my Nokia E51?

You should be able to downlaod skype and should work. If it doesnt workaround, download nimbuzz or fring, which acts a gateway to skype, voip etc
