I like to see wildlife in the different parts of the world that I visit, so I thought it might be a good idea to start a tread where we could log what we've seen, where, when, and a comment about how difficult it might be to get such a sighting. Here's a few to start with:

    Animal|Place|Date|Comment
Cheetah|Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa|Late October 2009|Only one sighting in 5 days of searching
Tiger|Ranthambore, India|Mid December 2009|A few great sightings over about 5 days
Leopard|Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa|Late October 2009|2 sightings over 5 days
Lion|Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa|Late October 2009|Daily sightings
Chacma Baboon|Hardap Dam and Maltahohe, Namibia|Early November 2009|Chance sightings near the road
Green Sea Turtle|Big Island, Hawaii|September 2008|Seem to be easy to see with a bit of local knowledge
Barbary Ape (macaque)|Cascades des Ouzoud, Morocco|Spring 2007|Curious so fairly easily spotted along the trail
Penguin|Luderitz, Namibia|November 2009|Can be seen fairly well by boat

Saw Chakira and her cubs in 2008. She made 2 kills in our presence.
She's reported as havng left the area when I returned this year.
Saw 3 male cheetah brothers last year and again this year.

Saw 27 different Lion on one day in 2008 in the Mara Triangle

3 different Leopard 2009 - one with kill in a tree

Group of about 200 elephant congregating, one fake charged at vehicle in 2008

    Baboons galore
Crocs galore - several enormous ones in 2008
    Buffalo galore
    Zebra galore
Wildebeest galore (didnt see the migration - too many people)
    Hippo galore
Hyena galore (some calling for pals when we were having sun downer-scary)
    Warthog galore
Topi galore - some giving birth, young killed, a newborn shredded by vultures etc
    Giraffe galore
    Black Rhino
    White Rhino
    Impala galore
    Thompson's gazelle galore
    Eland
    dik dik
    oribi

Dozens of raptor species and other birds. Monitors, striped and dwarf mongoose, serval cat (nice), reedbuck, ostrich, hornbill (red and ground), geko, bushbuck, Kori bustard, Secretary bird, hundreds of vultures, hartebeast,

I should really document for myself. Have too many pics to go through. There's more...

The most impressive is probably a Whale Shark in Western Australia, got to snorkel with it.
    Also a tiger in Thailand.

That's a good list, I'll have to put up a more comprehensive one to compete! How did you manage to see the cheetah make 2 kills? How long were you there? Did you have access to her radio collar signal?

    Hi !

    Thanks.

I was there for 5 days on each visit. Our guide is supposed to be one of the best in the business. His English name is Joseph and his Swahili name is Ledama. The man is a legend. He works at the Little Governors Camp.
He has an amazing aptitude for knowing when and where the action will happen. I really owe it to him and our experience to document it properly.

    Cheers,
