    That last graph only goes to the end of November, before the Budget and doesn't include the market response to said action by the Government.

    Interesting one. We keep hearing how one-off type tax revenue from stamp duty and CGT became the govs addiction. Instead, they look a pretty small part of their take and nowhere near explains the widening revenue/expenditure gap. And even those small bubbles really only look like they were of any significance in just two years, 2006 and 2007.

    Well it was a case of everything going south but changes in cgt and stamp was particularly steep. This gives you a better idea of the magnitude of the changes in each individual section:

    It's easier to spot the bubble in this one.

    Sure can't we just tax the red line up to the blue line and everything will be ok, or just borrow the difference. Sure it's only our kids who will have to toil to pay it all back....

    Great graph btw. No public sector comments on this one?
