Thinking of booking a golf trip to this resort. Just wondering if anyone stayed there or played the courses?

I played it, years ago. There are a couple of courses, if memory serves me, I think I may have played the North course, which was pretty decent. We did get buggies, as it was quite hilly, but we stayed in Porta Banus, which is about 20 mins away.

It's owned by FBD, and I think you can get discounts if you have an insurance policy with them.

Have played there but didnt stay on site. Played the North course. Its a nice setup, the course is hilly (as almost all are in that region) and buggies are a must. Would recommend it.
By the way we played a course about 20 mins drive inland from there called Monte Mayor which was super. Very tight, tough course which would suit lower handicappers. We also played Santa Clara, which was a fairly open course but very enjoyable, and a tought target style course called El Chapperal which was very tight with super fast greens.
We rented an appartment for 4, got car hire, greenfees inc buggies from the same company. This was feb last year and it cost 347E all in for 5 nights stay and the 4 rounds of golf.

Just to say Im not trying to drumn up buisness nor do I have any comercial interest in this company, they are just the people we booked with. Their rep phoned me to arrange the final details such as tee times ect.http://www.directgolfholidays.com/

Please before you use them make sure you are happy to do buisness with them. We found them excellent and things went very smoothly.
The reps name, if memory serves me well was Diane Dobson. I found her excellent to deal with and she sorted every detail for us.
I think we paid around 150E for a flight into malaga (inc bringing the golf bags) and the car we were provided with was a Berlingo ( which was ideal for 4 guys and their luggage and golf bags)

    best of luck.

+1 for Direct Golf Holidays. And it is Diane Dobson.

We were over there recently and they were recommended by a friend who goes regularly. Excellent service and no hitches.

I enjoyed playing La Cala but I wouldn't stay there. You'd be a bit out of the way. Better off to stay in one of the towns around where there's some life at night and rent a car to get to the golf. Car hire is very cheap.
