Hi I recently joined aqua aerobics. theres a girl there who every week wears leggings and a t-shirt in the pool. These are not special swimming clothes they are normal leggings that you would buy on the high street.

I was just wondering why would she do this and is there any benefit?

She probably feels self-conscious about how she looks and this way she feels more comfortable.

Probably self concious as mentioned, but it would also add extra resistance, I remember doing swimming lessons and for training if you fell in the sea etc you would practice swimming in jeans & a heavy t-shirt which is much harder to do. t-shirt & leggings would not add much though so I doubt it is for that reason.

I used to play waterpolo and there was a mixed school in before us, many girls would wear t-shirts, I presume since they were self concious in front of lads in their class.

Or maybe just getting the weekly washing done ;)

Being a bit forward, Id ask her, if I was in your class. :)

Could be shyness, could be resistance. Or maybe noone told her you wear a swimsuit!

My money is on shyness and she would be extra embarrassed explaining it. I doubt there would be much extra resistance with a simple t-shirt, I remember swimming in t-shirts as a kid when I had sunburn, wasn't that hard, a heavy wollen jumper is a different story.

Maybe she has burns or a skin condition or something. I don't think you should ask her though???

I tried wearing leggings and t-shirt in the pool. Noticed a small difference moving wise. It was quiet comfortable too. I didnt ask the other girl why she does it.
