Renault 19 gearbox advice

    hi
    I have renault 19 and last night it wouldnt go into the gears on top row reverse, 1st and 5th, after a few hours it worked no problems and this morning was fine again......anyone got any ideas what caused this? is it a sign gearbox is going?

    prob best to get mechanic to look i wouldnt have clue either way......any chance it was caused by weather as i was driving and was lot of slush, frozen slush and snow on roads???

    i would think it is a gearbox or engine mounting

    especially if you can get it into those gears OK when engine off or idling, but not when driving

    wouldnt know without looking at car ,between the engine and the gearbox at the back there is an engine/gearbox mounting which is usually first to give trouble ,at the frot of the gearbox is a gearbox mounting which can give trouble as well if either were gone /broken it would cause problems like you explained
