My next car.. what should it be :(

    Hi all,

This is my first post on boards, but I have been looking at these pages since the birth of the internet!

To cut a long story short, I've decided to get a new car, and when I say new I mean secondhand! :) I'm looking for some opinions from you guys as to what I should consider as my new car, ideally it would be great for someone who has owned some of the cars I am thinking about...

At the minute I am driving a 03 mini cooper. I love this car so much, but due to a little bang i had on the ice last week, I would to change now. The things i like most about my mini are, it's easy to park, really comforatable, and and really zippy! ;) I'm looking to spend about 15 tousand euro on my next car, but am completely confused as to what I should get after my mini.

I'm female, 23 years old, and have 4 years no claims bonus. Insurance is not much a problem, and I would not cover many miles, as my job sometimes provides drivers.
I love the look of a honda s2000, but anything in my price range has very high mileage. Would these cars be very rattly with high mileage? And would the fact that they have a convertible roof make them cold in winter?

Another car I also like is the new ford fiesta 1.6 sport, this car would come 2nd on my list after the honda! But it looks nice and and internet says some good things about it. :) I also like the audi tt... but again not sure..

If someone was in my shoes, what would they go for with my price range? Any ideas of something I might not have thought of? I appriciate if any reads and replies to this message, any help greatly appriciated.

    Thank u :)

Thank you a lot for your reply :)

I had actually considered an mx5. There was one on carzone that looked really nice in red, looked they might be really good fun, and would love a drive in one. What do you think would be a better car? The honda or the mazda? I don't know what is is about the honda, but i do think they look really sexy ;) and sleek!

I seen one not too long ago in black with red leather seats and fell in love. But they seem awfully expensive for what you are getting. I think it's quite hard to go from my cooper to something as cool.

the Honda is more powerful, the Mazda is cheaper and newer.

Why would you spend 15000 grand on a car??? When you could get any great car for half that! Whatever you do stick with Honda, Ford, Toyota.. Stay away from Renault, Citroen, Opel..

Thanks everyone for helping me with your input!

Just a couply of things, I'm not sure about getting another Mini, as much as I love them, I think I'd like something completely different! Also, colm what do you mean by jcw??

I know 15 tousand sounds like a lot for a car, but i would plan on keeping this car for as long as possible. I have a good job at the minute and live with my parents, so this is not really a problem.

As for the mazda rx8 my dad had one about three years ago... I was never really a fan of that car... :(

thank u for fitz for your suggestion. I want something a lot of a fun, i could just get in on a sunday and enjoy myself zipping around in. Lotus car is amazing, but i think would be a bit too much for me! But thank u for suggestion :) it looks like a hair clip.. kinda :)

Another car my little bro mentioned to me was audi s3 2ltr, Does anyone here think it would be possible to get the newer shape one for around 15 thousand? I don't mind waiting a couple of months and I could get mini fixed up in the mean time if i knew I could. This would be a dream car for me!

I reckon after I get my mini repaired it might only sell for about 5 thou, and that's being optimistic. Last wednesday when the roads were I decided to leave the car outside the dropping well pub and walk home. Returned the next day to find her badly damaged on the drivers side. Partly my fault i guess, as I should not have left it parked with all the other cars, so i can't get too mad at what happened, but I am very sad about it, and this is why i've decided to get something different.

sorry to hear, thats awful :(

a coupe would certainly brighten the whole scenario up alright though...! mx5, tt, or... and this surprised me at the price...

I don't find it as bad as their reputation to be honest, anyway the Op isn't keen on them

An MX-5 is a cracking car, I had one of the original models for a few years, it was 15 years old and still so much fun to drive

if the Honda S2000 is out of your price range then the MX-5 would be an ideal replacement

You could also look to bring in a car from japan, lots of low milage high spec cars there

The baseball stitching on the seats is gorgeous on that.

TT is nice but just don't think they're special enough to drive. Buddy bought a Black 225 coupe with red leather and 18" BBS wheels. Car looks absolutely MINT but it only feels "normal" to drive.

If you're annual mileage isnt too high I reckon one of these would tick all the boxes.......

Leather on drivers seat is ruined, they haven't even been arsed to wash it for the pics ! I would say 99000miles plus the rest.

If there car's not clean in the pics i generally just forget about them straight away, if that's the best they can do when trying to sell it, then they can keep it!

    I agree

it doesn't take long to clean the outside of a car and hoover the inside

If they aren't willing to do that for pics to sell it then how has the car been treated the rest of the time

I look after my car and when buying another one would expect to buy off someone who does the same

She can spend her money on whatever the hell she wants.

Can she? Sorry Padraig... I thought for a second she couldnt, thanks for pointing that out, you obviously know her or are very close to her ..

I just thought the girl asked what car should she should get, and she was willingto spend €15,000. Therefore I suggested she could get a great car for half the price and I dont know, spend the other €7,500 on whatever the hell she wants???

Just a suggestion or an opinion.

How about an Audi A4 or else A6?

You do know the MX-5 is a bit dangerous on bad road conditions? I like the car, but I cannot imagine driving one in the recent snowy or icy weather. Rear wheel drive means they could easily drift on roundabouts, etc.

Perfect for the summer, not so much for the winter, something to be considered. You should always put safety first in my view.

Nice car, other alternatives to it would be a Audi TT convertible, or an A4 convertible. (btw I don't work for Audi!)

They would drift a bit on icy roads or in the wet but they are easy enough to get back under control

In any case you would have to be careful in the conditions in any car, I haven't had much happen to me that wouldn't have happened in another car

S2k within your price range and money left over - http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=174579&cat=500

There not too bad in winter, Mine was fine over the past week in snow ect, I've even had the top down on a few frosty cold nights! With the softtop you tend to hear rattles in them in comparison to hardtop car's but you get used to it fairly quickly

The audi might be a dream image wise but wait till you drive one after owning a mini. Prepare to be bored solid. Try an mx5 and you won't be disapointed.
