    Welcome aboard Dar,

Safety and insurance. The two basic needs of any shooter.

If you are only starting out i suggest getting involved/joining a game club. Covers you insurance wise, and the lads in it will teach and guide you as you go.

Don't go out shooting on your own at the start. Try meet up with a few lads either through a club or just like minded people. Safety in numbers and you can see how they walk, stalk, what they shoot, what they leave, where to get the best shooting, etc.

    Safe and happy shooting.

You will have to either join a gun club to receive a license or get permission from 2 land owners to shoot on their land.

In relation to buying a shotgun there is a huge variety of guns available to suit most budgets and what you want it for. A few hundred for a double or a cheap automatic will get you going. Its possible to spend as much or as little as you like on general gear ie boots, chaps, jackets etc.

Next step will be to get a gun dog or shoot with someone with one, as you'll shoot very little without one.

If you have never shot before then you need to shoot with someone experienced to learn to ropes and most importantly how to shoot safely.
