    Hi all,

I have a speck of dust on teh lens of my compact Olympus. I know how to clean dust from a SLR, ive done that before, but I have a bad feeling the compact is not as easily done??
Can anyone help? I tried cleaning the outward surface of the lens with solution, and a cleaning brush, but no joy. I think the dirt is in behind the lens, or on the sensor maybe?

    Any ideas.
    Thanks

Maybe if you post a photo we might get some idea of what its like. If its internal might have to open up the camera to get at it, which might cause more trouble.

    Hi,

Here is a plain photo of a wall. As you can see, there is a black speck showing up!!

I can photoshop it out, suing patch tool or cloning in some circumstnaces, but obviously dont want to be doing that the whole time. Any suggestions?
Id imagine taking apart a compact couldbe disastrous.

    thanks

I would think that the dust is on/at the plane of your sensor.
If it was inside the lense you would expect to see a dough-nut
or dark ring unless it was quite substantial.

how old is the cam? doesnt look too much like dust on the sensor. Perhaps faulty sensor to blame?
edit/ If it's not too old it could be in warranty.

difficult to know if its sensor or lens
if its on the sensor a photo of bright sky should make it sharper

there are instructions online for taking apart some compact, but the sensor is probably the trickiest thing to get at, especially if it under a zoom lens
