The "renowned" €1 firelog is back at SPAR. Maybe a little late for some seeing as we're over the worst of the Big Freeze, but can't beat the price. Picked up a box of 12 myself yesterday. Last time they had this offer they sold out pretty quick, so stock up while you can ;)

    Nice one..!

Am currently picking up Fibra Flame ones at about €1.35 from Londis which are grand also.

Will pick up a few of the Spar ones at the weekend.

    Go on!
Tell us what you got for the €2 left from the €20? I'd suggest 4 Creme Eggs, but the 2 for €1 wasn't available last week! :D

My tip: don't use a full firelog per fire.

Cut it in half.. and use that with firelighters, blocks and coal.

Agree great offer, but the better half now happily throws them on every time i turn my back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 513 ✭✭✭dMaN24

I think that in total, men and my roommate has bought about 30 of them.
Some of them light properly, but some require firelighters though.

Pigsback have a coupon (in the grocery coupon section) for 50c off a Bord na Mona Firelog, not sure its the same as this though. See image attached.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 557 ✭✭✭jc77

Was looking at the coupon page earlier to see if I could use one for the log, but has this towards top of page...

Our coupons are only accepted in Dunnes, Superquinn, Tesco and Supervalu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,630 ✭✭✭Oracle

:( Maybe they'd take the coupon anyway, it's worth a try ..... also could be handy if you don't have a Spar near you.

    PAY NO ATTENTION. SORRY.

    Off topic/

I don't get firelogs?? Is it a huge firelighter, or is it fuel? One on it's own in the grate would look sad, a few would look weird, and be expensive. If you use them along with regular fuel, then why bother?

I feel like I'm missing some crucial aspect of fire lighting. Could someone explain them to me please?!

It's a huge firelighter. One should be enough to get a fire going when you have it surrounded by coal, wood, briquettes, etc.

This offer is still goin, myself and a housemate nipped over to spar across the road last night and bought all the ones they had left =D. It was only 8 though. =(

How long do they really last for on a burn?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,992 ✭✭✭✭gurramok

Bumping this. They have 4 firelogs for a fiver now at Spar, so 25c extra per log on the deal in Sept. Beats any other deal around as far as I can see as the Mace one seems to be over.

I'd like to know this too as I haven't lit a fire in over 10 years.

Really only burn for about 1-1.5 hours, and they don't throw out much heat on their own. I throw a couple of briquettes and coal on and just use them for starting the fire off.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,992 ✭✭✭✭gurramok

Just seen this evening that Mace now have same offer as Spar, 2 logs for 2.50.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,195 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Ah... but the Spar logs burn so much better!

Picked up 8 of the Spar logs for a tenner today.
