    Hi

Anyone know where the IR port is on the front of the newer silver Thomson Media Box ( non DVR version )

    Thanks

Had a look on UPC and Thomson site but to no avail, infact they use the DVR manual for this box on UPC site.

Get a torch and shine it at the front of the machine, the infrared sensor will appear as a dark red spot about 1/4" diameter.

Does it not flash when you press button on the remote? If it doesn't then point your mobile phone camera towards it and watch through the camera. You should see it flash when the remote control buttons are pressed.

Don't ask me to explain the physics on that one :D

It's just to the right of the little vertical row of symbols (power, telephone, envelope) on the left of the unit.

 Why would an IR receiver flash?

Sorry I meant there's normally a little red light next to the IR receiver that flashes when a signal is received.

There isn't on this box though.

Then try watching the front of the box through your mobile phone camera. 'Something' might flash then.

As I said above, just to the right of the actual standby light is a vertical row of symbols, a power symbol, a telephone and an envelope. The sensor is to the right of these.
