    Hi all,

Does anybody have any dealigns with the Tallaght Motor Group? They have a car or two I would be interested in but can't find any details about them on the web positive or negative. I know I should be wary of any used car dealer but it would be nice to hear from other peoples experiences.

I know they used to have some of our old stock for sale (might still have) so post any vehicles you are looking at with them.

Never had any dealings with them myself so can't comment, but If I'm thinking of the right crowd he had the sense to lower his overheads by moving out of the big showroom at the Square.

I bought a car myself with them a year ago no hassle. Very friendly people. They moved out of the garage at the square but are now just across from the village i believe.

Also a friend of mine got a car from them about 8 months ago and she was happy as larry about it

Not one of ours, but it looks like a nice bus. Make sure he has the full service history available.

    Thanks for replies folks.

Like the car and I like the drive in them. It does come with a full Service history.

looks like it was a company car according to cartell but only has avg mileage for it's age. Anything in particular I should watch out for in an ex-company car?

Hi, I've been looking at the same dealer. Just wondering if anyone could give some additional info. Or Dohda, if you could provide an update of your experience that would be great.
    Thanks.

I bought a 2007 Yaris from them in early 2008. It was an ex hire drive and had high enough miles for its age, but was well priced.

Gave a trade in of a Peugeot and they gave me a good trade in.

Found them friendly, honest and straightforward to deal with. Had no problems with the car, it was sold after a year back to a main dealer, so it must have been fine. I dealt with 2 of the guys there, the owner and one of the sales lads, both very professional.

Passed the Square a while ago, saw they were gone, thought they had closed and thought it was a pity as they seemed good, glad to know they are still operating.

    Hi,

Sorry to resurrect this but better than starting a new one!!

Has anyone dealt with Tallaght Motor Group, preferably lately, just want to know if they are a decent enough bunch, have seen a few cars of interest there at very good prices, so just checking if they are not cowboys or fly by nights.

    Thanks

    Woody

    Bump.........

Again rather then start a new thread I thought I'd add my expierence here.

Last thursday after seeing a 04 Golf for sale for 5950 on carzone I rang to express my interest and as I'm in Galway I told them the soonest I could call up would be saturday morning. I knew the salesman couldn't hold a car and didn't ask him to but did tell him I'd ring back friday evening before they closed and if still available I'd be there first thing saturday to collect.

So about lunchtime on friday I checked carzone and still there, Friday evening before calling I checked again and price was raised to 6450. I rang and queried the price and was told it was on sale the previous day. I then asked why I wasn't told of the price increase the previous day and they couldn't provide an answer and said I could if I took it without warranty so I passed.

Anyway then they had the balls to ring me this morning and ask if I wanted it at 6450 as they were increasing the price to 6950. I told the guy about how the price was only 5950 a few days again and he claimed that would have been wouldout any warranty but the add clearly stated 'fully serviced with warranty'.

Is it normal practice for dealers to bump prices once there's interest in a car? And why didn't the salesman mention that the price was to increase on the friday when I spoke to him the previous day?

that's shocking bad form from a dealer imo

still, you're better off, an overpriced 1.4 Golf would be a horrible prospect

FWIW, i'd all but ignore the sticker price in a situation like that. What was the dealer's best straight deal price on Thursday/Friday/today?

Yeah seems the sticker is just a rough guide to what they want. Seen a nice volvo v50 there. Good price at €11950 but the are advetising 2011 prices now and that has been the price for a while now.

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/Volvo/V50/1.8-SE,-/201029198887278/advert?channel=CARS

On a side note, When i put the reg into car tell beside the ad it gave a few options, one being have a person come out and look at car, €295, Were AA or RAC doing something like this for €40 before???

Also isnt it terrible that when people seen a good price the first thing they think is, damn this crowd must be cowboys!!! ( I thought that myself ) But if they have SIMI cert they cant be that bad, right????
