Is my Laptop wrecked

    I dropped my Laptop moving it this evening and now in the bottom right hand of the screen is a black patch with colorful vertical lines:confused:

    Is it F**ked

    Screen is damaged and will need a replacement. You can get these on Ebay depending on the model. You can test the laptop on an external monitor to make sure the rest of it is ok. If it boots up ok it probably is just the monitor.

    Well the display is likely damaged obviously. Probably some broken connections for the pixel controllers in that corner. Is there any visible physical damage?

    But LCD panels can be replaced quite easily so the laptop shouldnt be a write-off.

    Thank you both.

    Would it not be advisable to continue using it as it is - I don't think it would bother me that bad.

    Just funds are low. Also, excuse the stupid question but what would be the best way to back up music / picture files

    Use it as long as it lasts screen is ruined anyway.
    Backup photos and music either to a USB key or external hard drive. Or even a DVD data disk.
