Volvo S40 2005 Lighter Socket

    As above, the sockets (One front,one rear) for charging phones etc are not working. Am just wondering as anyone any ideas?

    Check that the fuse hasnt blown not sure where the fusebox is but your manual should tell you or check http://volvoforums.com

    If the fuse is okay then you may have overloaded one of the sockets and the CANbus network controller has disabled them.. you need a dealer to fix that or specialised auto-electrician.

    It could be the charger itself rather than the 12v sockets. Try a sat nav or different charger in them. My sat nav is difficut to charge in the front cigarette lighter socket in my S40 as the charger doesn't make contact with the pins correctly sometimes, the rear socket works fine though.

    The cigarette lighter socket is also in an awkward place meaning everytime you change gear or use the hand brake you hit off the charger and gets loose or falls off.
