iPod not working...

Hi all, couldn't find a suitable thread, so here goes.

I was listening to my iPod this evening, left the room for a couple of minutes and when I came back, I presumed the song had finished. Unlocked it and no response out of it. Tried turning it on/off again and still nothing. The battery was only half full, so it's not dead. I plugged it into the computer to see if anything would happen - nada.

It's a reasonably new (bought Summer 2008) 80G classic, if that makes a difference.

Any ideas to what could be wrong? Help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Strange that nothing would happen. usually when something like this happens, plugging it in provokes a response.

    1) Any water damage? Is so, leave it in your hot press overnight between two towels. Otherwise, don't :D

    2) Is there another iPod cable around? I'm sure Barleybooley has one upstairs somewhere, or one of the other siblings will. Try that one.

    3) If that doesn't work, try http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/# (the link is from apple.com and has helpful pictures.

If that doesn't work, post here again!

Strange, I have an ipod classic 160gb since 2006, it only frooze once.

    I did this,

    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Have to say apple has rarely let me down, have 3 Ipods,
