Well i would like to make one of them polls up on which is decent. I know there same price, so what the heck! :pac:

I start showing you the channels.

    Analogue Cable
    tv_analogue.png
I also saw they provide extra channels like the 2 white bars test card in the Dublin area while the Limerick area gets another 2 which is At The Races and British Eurosport for free which is not listed on the Digital Cable. :P
Most of the channels default Aspect ratio is on 4:3 from the digital ones while the terrestrial is on 14:9. Rarely i seen a channel broadcasting on 16:9 without any letterboxing.
All for €25, or for free if you have a internet connection or using Digital cable. :p
(What ever additional channels from other Irish counties i missed out please mention them to me) :o

    Digital Cable (Value Pack only)
    dtv_value_t1.png
All them channels for like €25. While the 2 channels called At The Races and British Eurosport is only on Analogue Cable in Limerick. No other places that would do it. The digital cable needs a plug socket to work. And it never turns off but wastes energy on standby. You can change your aspect ratio from 4:3 , letterbox and full widescreen. On the digital cable they give you several channels from freeview like BBC News channel, ITV2, BBC Three...etc

Well what would you vote for folks. Your choice :D

2 of the same things for €25 1 vote

    Analogue Cable
    0%
    Digital Cable (Value pack only)
    100%

Most of those channels are available on FTA satellite , thought people only pay for NTL because of the dodgy box and broadband

Unless you're joking (I'm not sure if you are), then this is the most pointless post, ever.

But I haven't precluded the possibility that you're joking. And btw that list isn't exhaustive. None of their lists are.

I know. Depends on the software what the cable box gives you through the cable.

Analogue Cable don't need a box unless you get TV with VHF. :D or a VHF Tuner box :(

If one has digital cable doesnt one have analouge cable as well ?

Only real reason for analouge anymore is multiple TV sets or timeshifting (does the basic digital package include a HDD box ?)

In this day and age cable doesnt make much sense at all unless a dish is completly out of the question

This is completely pointless, the picture quality on analog is rapidly deteoriating and in a few months there won't be anything to see on analog. it's obvious that they're forcing people to go digital.

You might as well have a survey asking people whether they prefer 625 to 405 lines!

There were people who maintained 405 was better (even when it was from a 405 camera pointing at a 625 monitor) you know...........

    Isn't it €21 for Digital Value? It's €26 for Digital Value+.

It is actually cheaper to have digital... I guess its the incentive to get people off analogue.

    Yes it sure is :)

It depends on which county you live. You may be able to get setanta if your TV has a VHF tuner

But there's no Comedy Central in Limerick any more (they replaced it with Living for some reason - awful channel :( ), and E4 is frozen most of the time. Setanta Ireland is barely watchable due to poor reception.
Rarely i seen a channel broadcasting on 16:9 without any letterboxing.
Sky1 is in anamorphic 16:9 in Limerick for reasons unknown (BBC1 was for ages too) - looks completely wrong on a 4:3 TV with no 16:9 option.

I regret voting in this poll, it is quite pointless...

It depends on the areas in Limerick, I have seen 2 Living TV's.

Like i was tuning my cousins tv when im in Limerick last October, (Glad its a widescreen tv) I believed the BBC1, BBC2, UTV and Channel 4 are believed to be using the audio and video off of Satellite while the teletext comes from Analogue. Thats why its 4:3.
