Free analogue NTL lost with upgrade?

We currently have the old NTL analogue tv package - that means we don't have any digital service at all. We've kept it for so long because when we moved in as renters, 5 or 6 years ago, the estate agent told us not to contact NTL, that they have never sent a bill to the house but its always been hooked up for it. So we let sleeping dogs lie, and didn't change it either when we bought the place. I know, its bad not to have paid but I had so much negative experiences with NTL in the past that I was happy not to deal with them.

Now we really want to get digital. It looks like UPC (who own NTL) do the best deal in terms of range of channels plus no set up fees. Do you think they would twig that we have never paid for what's there, and would they then remove the connection we have? We want to keep analogue in the bedroom and get digital just in the living room. I

We could go with Sky and have no issues, but the channel packages are not as good IMO and you have to pay to get them to set it up and for the sky plus box.

They won't know neither will they care too much either. If you are really concerned just remove the cable into the TV before they arrive to install the digital.

They hooked me up for free analogue (even provided me with the cable) when I bought my new apartment a few years ago. It was only when I ordered Digital that they looked for payment going forward. It seems to have been a policy to give people free analogue for a time and then encourage them to upgrade. Obviously in doing this they neglected to bother cutting people off when they didn't go with their service.

They don't care how many points you have in the house, they only charge for each digital box.

Thanks a mill for responses. Glad to know it will be safe enough to go with UPC so.
