Pheromones are claimed to be powerful air-borne chemical hormones produced by the body that fill the air around us to attract the opposite sex. See link: http://www.smarterlifestyles.com/2009/11/19/bend-the-laws-of-attraction-with-sex-pheromones-2/?fc_id=9366&fc_app_id=382

If pheromones were made available in a bottle like perfume, would you use it to increase the attraction of someone special?

    Hmm, no.

The body produces them for a reason so spraying pheromones would make me feel like I was faking it. I think.

Current thinking suggests that pheromone attractions will be different according to the giver and receiver though - the various pheromone 'smells' indicate the diversity of the bearer's immune system. Females will be attracted to a pheromone that indicates an immune system least like her own (which will in turn produce offspring with diverse - and therefore likely stronger - immune systems).

So even if you could bottle a pheromone it wouldn't be universally attractive to everyone, only those whose immune systems are unlike yours.

If you really wanted to catch a specific individual's eye (nose??) you'd need a sample of their DNA and would then need to match up a pheromone scent compatible to that.

I'm all on for a good chase... but that just seems a bit too much :p

Oh and also the attraction of pheromones only really applies to women, and not to men. Men (biologically speaking) have much less stringent quality preferences for potential mates.

No, I'd see it as a form of lying.

much more deceitful then say make up or clothes since pheromones can't be seen, adding to the lie. Unlike makeup, there would be no tell-tell signs you're using something to attract.

Lying is about as unattractive as it gets in the end.

Plus at the end of the day if a guy isn't happy with who you really are there's no point pursuing him any further.

if it was actually possible.. itd just be a lot of work? like youd have to spray yourself to attract him.. grand.. but then youve gotta keep spraying to keep him interested.. what if 1 day you forget!?:P

and thats presuming you could deal with the paranoia of "would he like me if i wasnt using this?"

meh. far far too much effort.

    Don't hold yer breath.

    On 2nd thought, I wouldn't use it.

I wouldn't want to know that a gal only likes mewbecause I "Made her" chemically.

You'd have to constantly spray yerself to keep them attracted.

Not worth the hassle. Just go eau natural.... But shower first.

I'd love to use it on a night out to see if it works, but for serious, I wouldn't, use them.

Those calling it lying, that's kinda harsh, it's just using nature to your advantage! :) I mean if you like a guy after he uses them, then he stops and after a few months tells you, would you leave him for that?

I don't want to give every man with a 10 foot radius of me the horn, I couldn't think of anything less appealing, tbh
powerful enough to attract a person with an almost animalistic desire.

Sounds scary, I hate it in a pub or club when some guy is glassy eyed trying to act the cool dude and has a huge sign with "please have sex with me" above his head - to envoke that response in men around you would be complete madness.

If I need it to give a someone who is supposed to fancy me already then I'm in real trouble so no, not something I would buy. :pac:

Mens toilets sell them too (I have never seen an Irish person buy them did once see a probable tourist try to buy some once).

There's probably nothing worse than being surrounded by guys that have knowingly sprayed pheromones on themselves. I think that if you think it's a good strategy to attract women, then you've already failed...

I just hope I don't unwittingly sleep with someone I hadn't intended to until their irresistible scent lured me to their bedroom...

As G'em said though you would have to match your scent up to the object of your desire and even if you could it might only have an effect for men on women. That said I would say that for me anyway the low level scent of a woman is either very attractive or not.

The other issue would be that women it seems prefer different scents depending on the time of the month or if they're on the pill/pregnant. So you would have to tailor it so finely.

Basically having a chat and being flirty is a lot easier :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I was actually just thinking about this last night when I couldn't sleep :pac:

From what I understand, people being attracted to pheromones is a subconcious thing. It's not like you ever hear anyone say, "Yeah, I met this guy/girl last night and jesus, powerful pheromones, I couldn't resist!".

So basically, it would be impossible to bottle and sell because you could never determine if who you are attracted to is going to be more or less attracted to you just on that level. I think it is just something we don't even notice.
