UPC remote problems

Just had UPC installed on saturday. subscribed to the 'sportsfan pack' and received the DVR box. Was fine for the first couple of hours, but all of a sudden the remote control just stopped working. Have tried adding new batteries and no difference.
When I hit the 'tv' button on the remote, the remote has no problem changing volume or accessing menus on my tv which makes me think it is the box and not the remote control that is wrong.
Anyone any idea's what may be causing this issue? The remote started working again last night but only for 20 mins and then it just stopped again. Tried ringing UPC yesterday but was on hold for about 25 mins before I gave up. Will try them again this evening.

    Thanks for the reply.
I've already had a look through the user manual and couldn't find anything in relation to the problem I've been having

Youll have to send it back. They will charge you 20/25 euro for it but if you send the old one back it will be reinbursed. Same happened to me.

so it was simply a matter of getting a replacement remote and it all worked ok?

Have you tried pressing the UPC button to put the control back into UPC mode not TV mode?

yep, I've tried pressing the UPC button. I just tried pressing the tv button to see would it be able to acess the menus on my tv, and it did without any problems.

Have you got a low wattage or flourescent light switched on in the room. This can cause remote to fail to work. Swith off ligt and try remote

cheers for that advice. I was a bit dubious but I turned off a lamp in the corner of the room and the remote started working!! I've never heard of lights effecting remotes before but oh well at least it's going now:)

Good catch I'd not have thought of that either.
