How to get penalty points taken off your licence

I got 2 penalty points on my licence and they should have expired in November 2009. Someone has now told me that they don't come off automatically and you have to ring some place to get this done. Does anyone know if this is true and if so, who do I ring? Also, I am moving to the UK to live in the next couple of months and…

Also, I am moving to the UK to live in the next couple of months and was wondering can I use my Irish licence over there, as we are all in the EU or do I have to resit my test to get a UK licence?

You'll get a letter to wherever the fine was posted to saying they've expired. If you got points in Nov 2006 they won't be gone til around Feb/March 2010 - (it's Ireland, that's the reason why)... before you ask
