According to the bold Mary, the reason Iris Robinson sought comfort in the arms of her 19-year-old lover was that she was trapped in a loveless marriage - much like the shameless parasite and social climber who married into the British royal family and who lived a life of Riley at the public's expense.

Then again, perhaps Ms Carr has a point.
