    Anyone here own one?

I play left handed and its hard for me to try out different guitars in the store, but I've always wanted a mockingbird. But I really don't know how they play, I've only ever played a few 'upside' down and i really liked it (now I know the quality can vary from guitar to guitar) but in general Is there any mockingbird owners here and are they happy with theirs? And are these zebra pick ups any good ( i'd never plug in 'upside down ' in a guitar shop,:o)

Depends which mockingbird your after. For years every B.C. Rich guitar I ever used felt like crap, played like crap, was build like crap and sounded like crap stock. However Ive played a few recent ones that are costing around the 600-700 euro mark and they were pretty nice, i was actually really shocked.

I still think that for that price though you can get a much nicer LTD or Schecter but if you really like the body shape you could do a hell of a lot worse.

i own a 21 year old warlock, (one of the last of the american ones), I've played several warlocks and mockingbirds over the years and they did take a monstrous dive when production moved to korea in the early 90's. However their recent mid to high end efforts have been really good, the neck through mockingbirds were always good and the new ones are good too, solid build, wide variety of tones available and nothing looks like them!

the guy who owns the "Sound shop" in drogheda , Tommy Leddy, plays upside down and demonstrated many a guitar or amp playing upside down! So i wouldn't worry about that!

The neck feels like the neck on a gibson explorer except glossier.. similar radius and thickness etc. The pickups are as good as your fingers are!

But you could always buy a Bacchus or LTD or Schecter like everyone else on boards.

(let it be noted i have nothing personal against those brands.(Except LTD(we don't get along)))

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice, I was wary of buying a mockingbird online without first trying it out and because of hearing/reading a few stories about bad build quality on some models from Korea/but China mostly ( i think). So I don't think I'll take the risk with a mockingbird unfortunally even though I still think it looks pretty cool.

While looking online and from reading a few threads on this forum and a few others, I think I'll go for a Schecter hellraiser ( hopefully a sunset FR or whatever's the best model I can get in left handed). Everyone who owns one seems to be very happy with theirs.

Now to find dealers with left handed Schecters that ship to Ireland!:)
