desktop calenders

i use dateline and desktopcalender to get a calender on the desktop but most times if i use spaces - the calenders disappear. not straight away - so they work over multiple desktops, ie there really is only one desktop so it is imprinted on that. so does anyone have any idea why this is disappearing and any tips to fix it?
