    Just saw this online:

    http://www.sbpost.ie/news/ireland/revenue-gets-green-light-to-fill-2000-vacancies-46691.html#mon

The head of the RC said that a ‘‘sizeable proportion of posts will be filled by open recruitment and redeployment’’ but said there would be promotions at all levels of the organisation.

Does anybody know what this might mean for people on frozen panels? (I'm thinking of the open EO from the end of 2008)

Hiya, tried looking at the link given, but it is just coming up blank for me,so not sure what the article says etc..
It would be great if the EO panel starts moving again though, I think a lot of people would jump at these jobs even with all wage deductions etc,I know i would!!! although i think the public service job freeze is still in place, unfortunatley.

Is this still open to the public? Or would the recruitment freeze stop us from applying. Also i can't access due to the link.

Thanks for that I would definately apply, I think they tend to advertise jobs through publicjobs.ie if I am correct.

Open recruitment would definitely be through Public Jobs.

Is there any timeline for when this might be happening?

Very interested too. The competition will be tough but looking forward to these being available.

For co positons they were filling them from the 2007 co competion prior to the freeze. They then did another co competion for 2008 and did not place anyone or move past the exam stage. So for clerical officer positions they would most likly make panels out of this competition.

I would say it would be the same for eo jobs that they would use exsisting panels. Going to email them anyway to see if they will give any info. Ill post here if they do.

Other public sector departments are extending the term of the 2007 panel for upcoming co contract vacancies - might be similar for Revenue.

Update.... they seem to be using the 2008 panel for this, I just got sent an application form from Revenue to apply for stage two of competition for Administrative Officers in their Audit and Investigation unit. Think it was around February/March 2008 when I sat that aptitude test.

Does anybody know where most of these jobs are? Is it mostly the Dublin area. Im currently on both the Wexford and Waterford panels so fingers crossed. Havent seen any open competitions on public jobs though..

I emailed Public Jobs when this story first came out and they said it would basically all be filled through internal competitions in Revenue. I know a CO who works there and there is an SO/EO competition going on there at the moment.

I suppose AOs are always recruited from outside though. It's annoying - but not that surprising given the unions - that any of us already on open panels are just being ignored for this...

Tricky@ - can I ask which AO competition that was for? Was it a Revenue comp or was it the open one from 2008? Am on the open panel, and apparently two have been placed since interviews last January... Thanks!

I'm on an open CO panel (no specific dept specificed in the panel) since late 2007, I thought a panel was deleted after a year or a year and a half, but gee if they are using an 2008 panel maybe there is some faint glimmer of hope foe me!

Thanks for the answer Tricky@, didn't see it until now. If it's not too cheeky a question, can I ask roughly where you are on the panel (top 5, top 10...).

I'm no.11 on the AO panel and am going slowly mad in my current job. Any news is good news!

Cant honestly remember what number I was on the panel... and the Public Jobs website was relaunched a while ago so lost all the email confirmations. If I remember correctly there was a general open AO panel and then a seperate open AO one for Revenue from that last competition in 2008. I know I wasnt as high as 11 on the general AO panel. If I was to guess I think I came someone between 25-35 on the Revenue panel.
