Tuning Toyota diesel?

I recently purchased a 06 Corolla that is producing 90bhp at present. I was contemplating getting the engine tuned but I am unsure if this is possible with the Toyota diesels? A guy near me does it and he said that he was not able to do Toyota engines for some reason. Does anyone know if it can be done?
Also am i running the rise of damaging my engine or would it simply effect my fuel economy?

the 90bhp D-4D is as a result of an ECU re-map, and various turbo upgrades on the 75bhp Mk1 Yaris unit, tuning boxes aren't recommended.

Toyota have their own solution for the D4D I think.
