Hi all, its me -again- :o.

This time I'm after some collective wisdom on kit- Here are the questions:

Will a tactical vest like this :http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=913 fit someone who is overweight? (not hugely overweight but let just say theres a bit of extra midriff im eager to be rid of :()

Also, what should I look for in a tactical vest? assuming I can fit in one. I quite like the look and set up of the UTG one in the link above, what do you think?

What tools would I need for maintenance and generally taking the gun apart?

What type of sling would be best for primarily CQB airsofting?

What type of footwear would you reccomend?

and finally, where would you reccomend getting all these things? (I assume that "the ban" doesnt include stuff like that.)

    Again, thanks for any/all information.

Why take you gun apart but for simple maintenace a handy set of screw drivers and allen keys. Cheap in tescos or aldi too. Get some silicone oil too.

Sling.. I like my bungee sling. Got from Go Tactical Wexford for €20 i think

Boots. Magnum Elite II., got from www.polimil.co.uk . Great comfy, waterproof boots. Great support and warm.

Vest for you I cant recomend. I use a molle type one.

That vest'll fit fine; apart from the fact that stuff like that has to cater to the horrifically obese Yank market too, if you look at the photo of that vest that's sort of three-quarters from the rear, you can see the three adjustable buckles that attach the back to the front - they'll more than likely run out a long way. I wouldn't worry about it, that should be grand.

Nice-looking bit of kit, too; should keep you going for a good while. The option to remove the holster and replace it with more mag pouches will be dead handy for longer, outdoor games where things aren't as fast and frantic as indoor.

The most important thing in my opinion is quality - buy cheap, buy twice, as they say. I get immensely frustrated when my gear claps out on me in the middle of something. I had a UTG vest once that I barely used before selling it on to someone who'd use it more, and was impressed that it was well-constructed (and the buyer later said that it had served him very well until a chest-first dive onto the end of a fence post smashed the buckles). Apart from that, I'd look for suitability for what you're going to be using it for - enough storage space, doesn't get in the way, that kind of thing.

I think you're going with a short M4 as your primary gun - you'd probably do best with a single-point sling or none at all, although a 3-point would be fine too. 3-point slings have a releasing buckle so be careful not to get a crap one (Viper are crap, for example).

Indoors (as with outdoors, but for different reasons) you want footwear with ankle support and good deep grips, because flat soles on a carpet of accumulated BBs is a quick ticket to the concrete. I got a pair of British Army surplus boots which were cheap, already broken in, excellent quality and Gore-Tex lined so my feet stay dry no matter what kind of puddle I'm tromping through (also they've served me very well indoors). So what I recommend is these from here. You won't get use of their maximum potential indoors, but it's nice to have something that'll stick with you as you get more into the game.

Recommended retailers in Ireland are here. Everyone's got their favourites amongst the Hong Kong online crowd, and for original kit I've found http://www.tactical-kit.co.uk/ and http://www.uktactical.com/ and http://www.opticsplanet.net/ good (although naturally more expensive for better quality).

Wow nice reply man thanks very much :)

The gun im aiming for is a CQB m4 of unknown make or a JG G36C. not sure which, edging towards the G36C either way I'll have a look at 1 and 3 point slings.

you can get two m4 mags into pouches for every one g36 mag. That, i belive is a factor to consider in gear and weapon choices.

I agree. The g36 is a great gun, but the m4 mags are so much neater.

Both great guns and you will probably end up getting both anyway.

unless you get the converter for the g36 that makes it take m4 mags =p
personaly it looks... alright i guess, but i like the pro look
not too expensive either i dont think
plus if your originaly a player that uses one of the many many differnt guns that take the m4 mags then a converter would be cheaper than buying a crap load of g36 mags which arnt cheap either

the vest you linked will deffinatly fit you absolutly no problem, i'v seen it first hand, the exact same vest exept in USMC woodland.
one point sling i would recommend in CQB so you can just throw it over the shoulder or just drop the gun or even quickly take the whole thing off.
Boots that fit is the most important thing, one with ankle support.
