A 4 cylinder tractor is a better job for loader work. 6 cylinder machine would be too big and awkward for yard work. JD 6410 would be a good yoke i reckon

whats with the john deere, your limiting your self to one of the most expensive brands of tractors, you would get more for your money if you forgot about the auld jds lovely as they are
as was already said, a 4 cylinder is best suited for loader work.
like the looks of the class lately
think they have a 120 +, 4 cylinder with high flow hydraulics ideal for loader, heavy back end as well. uncle has one for farm and contract fencing done a lot of motor way stuff. seems to be very happy with it reminds me a lot of the jds
what happened to the zetor thought she was an animal:D

You should also look at the smaller valtra tractors they are as good as john deere but alot more affordable..
A massey 5455 or 5460 are also great tractors for loader work, they are very reliable and comfortable aswell.

the massey 5400 series are a bit soft in terms of build quality and way behind the 4200 series . their a bit lighter on diesel than the john deeres.

really? we have a 00 reg 4245, we were thinking of trading it in for a 06-07 5445-5455. Love the 4245 though, great loader machine with the snoopy bonnet.

Claas or Renaults have JD engines, and provide similar performance for much less money. I also prefer the transmission to the Deeres. There is serious value to be had if you buy in the Renault colours, especially if you go up North. Ashfield & Wilson or Erwins are both on the web and usually have decent stock, reasonably priced.

while JD is almost always my prefered tractor , i do like the claas and know severals with them who are more than happy , renault were a very good tractor and claas is a follow on from them , another tractor which would very much interest me were i to be in the market is a kubota , they are well priced ( no more dearer than a claas ) and when did the japaneese every make a dud

steer clear of the claas celtis tractors . two neighbours of mine bought new celtis 456 tractors in 05 one guy only kept it for 6 months and lost thousands on a trade in against a john deere and the other guy still has his which needed a new tranmission sensor hydraulic pump new starter and it struggles to pull a 14 ton dump trailer.

the 4200 series were the last of the coventry built masseys and after that they were all made in france.

a 6180 or 6190 would be ideal for what ya need, as you would get one for reasonable money now as they are hitting 10 years old ..

Leaving aside the issues with the starter, pump and transmission sensor, I wouldn't be expecting a light tractor like a Celtis to fly away with a dump trailer. Nor would I be expecting a hectic trade in against a different brand on a 6-month old tractor, regardless of make. That said, I'd be recommending an Ares for the OP as being best suited to his needs.

i dont expect it to fly away with a dump trailer its 100hp and struggles to pull it in the field in 2nd gear. the dealer didnt even want to take it as a trade.
the claas ares are fine its just the celtis an old renault with a different badge.

We have an 02 Massey 4370, built in Coventry, basically a slightly more modern 4200 series. Its given no trouble whatsoever in the 2/3 years we have it.:)
Its a bit long for use with a loader, esp. in a yard, as its a 6 cyl. A four cylinder would be much handier for turning tightly in a yard.
The newish Kubutos have a tight turning circle too but there aren't too many second hand ones about so they might be a bit expensive new. Back axel looks fairly light on the ones I've seen of them aswell.:(

dont waste your money buying the larger jdeere 6920 the chance of you getting a good one are zero .the people who bought them new have the life knocked out off them and probably have a lot of cheap bad repairs made to them. the back end of a jd 6920 is not up to the job for heavy work and the common rail is good when working right but pumps and ijector can be easly damaged with bad fuel.if you do buy one check the control units for trouble codes
