Laptop Battery Problem

I have just changed to wireless broadband and now I can unplug my laptop which I never had to do before. The problem is that the battery life is non existent, it lasts about 1 minute even though the battery display says 100% charged.
This happened back when I got it aswell but it was never unplugged then so I forgot about it.
Is there anything I can do to get a bit of life from it. I have tried changing the power settings but it did nothing.
It is a HP Pavilion DV6000.

Leaving Li-ion batteries like in Laptops plugged in indefinitely will pretty much destroy them. There is zero chance of fixing it, your only option is to get a replacement.

It usually needs to be left plugged in for months on end for this to happen though. Is that what has happened? Leaving it in overnight or for e.g., a few weeks even will do no harm.

My own experience is leaving an XPS1730 plugged in now for > 18 months. It has 3% charge max. It took around 12 months before it started to drop down to 80% and then the decline accelerated to almost nothing in a few weeks.

So whats the moral of the story here?

Never leave your laptop battery in place while you use mains power to run in. True/False?
