    Hi all,

I'm looking for a way to stream content from my Intel Macbook OS 10.4.11(Tiger) to the PS3? I've tried Medialink's latest version but that only works for OS leopard and above. I have the older version but i cant see my ps3 and visa versa... Anyone got any odeas how to do it?

What exactly do you mean by stream?
Do you just want to put movies etc onto your hard drive?
If you have time machine on your mac the ps3 won't recognize any content as the media is in the wrong format.
I don'tknow enough to answer your question but I'm sure someone can.

nat 2 is good so, no i use it wirelessly, works without a hitch even converts and plays not normally supported avi's etc over the air,
sounds like your firewall is blocking something, have a look at your permission settings, i'm not familiar with mac setup, so i cant elaborate anymore on how to go about it on a mac, but ya defo sounds like your firewall is blocking the connection as a precaution shouldnt be too hard to sort out
have a look at router firewall as well as computer's own

Are you are using ntl broadband with the supplied cisco wireless router? If you are there is a problem, which I have never bothered to try and solve, where if your ps3 is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable and your mac is connecting wirelessly then the ps3 will not find the mediaserver. The solution is to connect the ps3 to the router wirelessly too and all should be good!

I've tried knocking off the firewall on the mac and also the router, but its still not seen on either the mac or the ps3. both are wireless.. cant figure out what the problem can be...
when i switch on the medialink, and go to "devices" there is nothing in the box.
with ps3mediaserver it says its not connected to the ps3

PS3 Media Server works great for me, I'm using Snow Leopard but I think it should still be compatible. Are you sure your mac and ps3 are both connected to wifi? When I tried it first, I had the laptop still plugged directly into the ethernet cable, but when I connected it to wifi, turned on the ps3, then activated the ps3 application, it found the ps3 straight away. I could then watch stuff available on my mac and connected harddrive, which I thought was incredible!

    @oreillyt
I mate i think i have the same setup as you but not having the issue however i remember i did update the version of Medialink and had some prblems so i simply reverted back to the prevous version.
Im on a Macbook pro Tiger, dont usualy use Wifi but tend to go with eithernet cable via my Apple mac Router.
When i get home ill check out the version number and post it for you.
As for streaming , i dont personly think its all that good as i get too many errors popping up, so i tend to copy over the movies, music on to the PS3's HDD and play direct from there.
Streaming Itunes i have seen no issues there...
Hope it gets sorted but id recommend downgradeing the version and see what happens.

cheers lads, i've tried everything at this stage!.
I only use the wireless, have never used wired on any of my computers.
I'm using the old version of medialink, the newer version doesnt work with "tiger". Mine isn't a "pro" though. i've tried turning on the UPnp on my zyxel prestige 600 router, but still nothing.

On the ps3mediaplayer - Do i have to configure the network settings manually? as in put in my IP address?

Also when i do a internet connection test on the ps3, on the results part - beside "Upnp" it has "not available" Why would that be when i've activated it on the ps3 and my router?

This could be your problem, have you tried a firmware upgrade of your router?

I find Vuze to be the best way of streaming video to the PS3. Really easy to use. Just download the program from Vuze.com add your files to the library and then drop them onto the ps3 icon. It'll transcode to a format suitable for your ps3 too.
