I want to do a Half ironman race this year, preferably toward summer time. Has anyone got any suggestions on any at home or abroad which they enjoyed.
Ideally, I'd like somewhere in Europe and a nice place to spend a few days there afterwards.
I'm not looking to win or anything, just want to finish!
    Thanks

I wouldnt know to much about foreign Half Ironmans but if ya think about doing one at home there is a new one in Swinford on the 25th July. Looks very good http://www.swinfordtrisports.com/

There is also the Lost Sheep in Kenamre although it is in September which might be too late after the summer http://www.corktri.com/wordpress/?page_id=20

    Hi Dave,

My two cents worth is stick at home and do one here, Swinford, Down and Kenmare have one this year. I havent done it abroad yet but it seems like an awful hassle and expense between flights, hotels, transportation of the bike and registration fees for some of them.

Save the holiday abroad for the following year and your Ironman attempt!

Personally I have only done Kenmare and it's a fantastic event. Fingers crossed I'll get an entry again this year!

I know a few people that have travelled abroad for events and I don't think it's that much trouble. Ideal if you want a holiday after. I believe a crew from GTC are going to Antwerp this year.
