2 marathons 3weeks apart?

I want to run the Great Limerick run on the 2nd of May.

But I want to run Clare Burren Marathon Challenge in Ballivaughan.
They did not announce it yet, but I would say it will be somewhere 23rd of May.....

The marathons are 3weeks apart. (in theory.)
Should I run 2, or just one.

If I want to do both any ideas on fast recovery.
    Any tips on training.

I was thinking of running 14miles on Sat then 12miles on sun. (So that the weekend run is 26miles)
Abd then 3 weeks later doing it again. (just for try.)

I am going to run 20miles in one go some other time.

    Thanks!

p.s. I am fit. Not injured.

Race one, jog the other with racing the first one the best option.
What you mean running 12 on sat and twelve on sunday ??? This is ok if you run 20 as your longest run.

If 12 is your longest run and and you are doing it two days in a row you will be injured very quickly.

I raced 2 marathons 5 weeks apart and regret it slightly as couldn't really run properly for a month or 2 after the 2nd marathon - thought I might have a stress fracture too (may be scaring you now - turns out it wasn't but in hindsight could easily have been)

3 weeks is even less of a gap and definitely don't race both - even racing the first one and jogging the 2nd one I think is a bad idea but that's just me - on the other hand (crazy) people do 7 marathons in 7 days etc etc and they probably would say go for it..!

this issue was discussed on this thread here also http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055750931

I tried to race 2 marathons 6 weeks apart last year and crashed and burned in Dublin as a result (plus I had gotten sick which didn't exactly help).

But if you're planning on running the Clare Burren Marathon Challenge as an easy long run this is certainly possible, but it won't be easy. You might regret your actions around mile 15 or so (and that's a long way from home)

What would you think about running the Cork marathon and then the Mourne Way the weekend after?
If you did the Cork at a slow pace would you be okay for the second one on the Saturday aferwards?

Of course it is possible. There are 2 guys who are going to run 32 marathons in 32 days a few months from now; 2 marathons one week apart are a piece of cake in comparison.

There are plenty of people (including some on this board) who run weekend marathons as part of their standard training.

If you're fit enough and pace yourself sensibly, this is not a big deal.

Absolutely agree with this....it depends on your conditioning. It's not optimal, but certainly possible. Having said that because it's possible doesn't mean it's possible for you :-)
