In fairness, most plug in battery chargers are very slow. Perhaps just 5W or so. It would take 24/48 hours to charge an empty battery back to full health.

Not so, afaik? Charger output is rated in amps, and I think the max output on the Lidl one is 5A. So to charge a fully discharged 60Ah (amp/hour?) should take 60/5 or 12 hours.

I bought one last year, It does take 12 hours or more to charge a weak battery but it does its job and I am happy with it.
Sometimes when I use it it knocks its self off after a few seconds, The solution is to leave the battery in a warm area for a few hours and then reconnect charger and it works fine.

Just looked up the spec of the Tronic charger and max output is 3.6A. The battery in my last car was 100Ah ;)

But you got me thinking, thanks for that. I just checked my own charger (not a Lidl one) and it is only 500mA. No wonder the fecking thing never seemed to work

i bought one of these 2 years ago and it is perfect!
used it alot on my bike as it was parked outside and the alarm constantly emptied the battery!

used it a few times on my car over the last 3 months and its great. my car battery was completely empty, no red lights or anything and from that to a complete full charge took about 4-5 hours.

Edit - just checked the specs of mine, its a Tronic T4X, 3.6 AMP Max.

I bought one of these and the only light that comes on is the standby light. none of the other lights come on and the "Mode" button doesn't make any difference. Am I doing something wrong or is it fcuked ? Time to look for the receipt and pop in and see if by any chance they have any in stock. It's the first time I've ever needed to use it as I've just bought a Yamaha XT125 with a dead battery

Great found the receipt, purchased January 2010 !!

Hi there. I have my 6v/12v lidl battery charger a few years now... It generally works but it only if your 12v battery is not discharged bellow 9v and it doesn't charge battery well.
I have few vehicles and i did charge batteries with that charger u and i tough if it this think didn't really help after charging then battery needs to be replaced.
    And i was wrong
My battery in motorcycle wasn't taking a charge from this charger but when i connected to a diffrent (proper) charger it charged well and bike is running on the same battery 2 years later...
I had that with few other batteries later on and 9 out of 10 still working even that lidl charger didn't help...
In my opinion waste of money...

Battery charger threads are a bit like Abortion Referendums, no matter your viewpoint, you will irritate someone!
I had a Lidl one, and to be honest it was so slow to charge it was not much use. 36 hours to charge a large car battery etc.
Bought a more expensive charger (CTEC) and it's immediately obvious that you get what you pay for.
It even managed to charge an old Bosch battery that a tenant had removed from his car and left behind a rented house. It had been sitting there for over a year.
