    Hi Dollydimples (love that name!)

I have the same problem, have you ever tried those hold em pants? or fat pants as I like to call them? Everyone raves about Spanx, but I can't afford them and find the ones from Pennys work a treat.

I also try to emphasise my best features and draw attention away from the ones I'm not fond off.

I'm a similar shape to you OP, and I definitely think a dress/long top with leggings is the way to go :) The kind of outfits that Stella 777 suggested are a good idea, because they're dressy but comfortable at the same time. I wouldn't necessarily wear a belt though as I find they can draw attention to your stomach, which I know I wouldn't be happy with! Black is always a good colour to choose, and you could wear some bright coloured accessories too to jazz it up a bit. Hope that helps :)

I also think wearing a belt is just hight lighting the area you want to hide. I would avoid.

To add to the above, try and highlight another area, perhaps wear something quite low cut if you have good boobs, or go for big accessories that pull peoples eyes up to your top half. Then minimise your problem areas, by wearing clothes that skim over them, also go for dark colours in those areas. Finally, some killer heels to slim your legs and make you feel dressed up.

Finally, add some confidence! It's sounds cliched, but if you're feeling great in what you are wearing, you really project that to other people, so head up, shoulders back and strut your stuff!!!

I was thinking more of a very wide belt that sits high on the waist and would cinch in above the belly so that the tunic/top flares out below it, giving an illusion of a more defined waist and camouflaging the belly.

Dont go for a very wide belt if youre a big girl, it makes it look like a corset and youre all squished in. But belts are a very good idea, about 3 fingers with I would say. Wrap dresses, loose tunics with leggings and boots work well too. Aim for vnecks and synched waists. Possibly try covering arms as they can be telltale. Maybe use a tinted moisturiser or a good fake tan as it hides blemishes and does make you look thinner

(Detail draws the eye up, and its a change from black)

(Wouldnt be my style but its a wrap dress in a dark colour, could put a nice big eye catching necklace with it)

    (Looks quite sophisticated)

    And a final other possibility:

Accessorize are good for unusual necklaces

Dunnes or pennys had cheap Jersey dresses (plus they're in Longford :D). They come with a belt just under the bust (can change that to what ever belt you want like I did .... People even thought it was an expensive dress then) and from there the fabric is pleated to flare out... pretty much hides all, good quality too so they are! Really do knock the pounds off!

Firstly invest in a good pair of tummy holding in pants. A ra-ra skirt with is a great way to balance out the midrif, just make sure its not a mini, go for above the knee and choose a colour like purple or blue. For the top, try a top with mini sleeves or 3/4 sleeves and has detail on the chest, not the waist. And lastly wear mega heels and stand up straight - it takes pounds off :)
