Erractic Volume Changes From My Bass Amp

Since there seems to be some amp/electronical experts here hopefully someone can help me out. I have an EBS HD350 that I've been playing for a few years, but over the past few weeks I've been having trouble with the volume on it. At first, the volume would go up and down when I was playing. I thought it could have been the battery on my bass, so I changed it to no avail. Christmas came, and I took a few weeks from the studio and the amp. I went back in yesterday with a completely different bass than before, plug in... And the amp was absolutely deafening with the volume and gain both set and around 1 or so. The volume then dropped down to being very quiet and slightly distorted. I've ruled out my cab and my basses, so the problem appears to be coming from the head. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Its a faulty volume knob (potentiometer). With the power off turn the knob up and down really fast for a couple of minutes, - that might temporarily fix the problem (lodged dirt or something) if it doesn't work, you can buy a new one on ebay for a couple of euro.

If you do end up buying one make sure to get one with the same values for resistance ect.
If your not sure, bring the old one into maplins or peats and they will help you out.

I think you should contact EBS about it. It sounds very odd.
