    Hi,

Can somebody post a picture, or better direct me to one online , of the back of UPC recorder box (it's the third down on the left http://www.upc.ie/customersupport/manuals/)

I won't be at home for a few days and there is something I need to have a look at.
I think it's strange that there is no image of the back i the manual.

    Cheers

Just out of interest - as this thread is resolved - what is the rf out for?

The one on my box was crimped with a pliers by the look of it. I thought this was an attempt by UPC to prevent something or other.

What can you do with the rf out?

It goes to the back of the disused VCR in my set up.
It may not be doing anything at all.
I haven't touched anything since the UPC guys installed it.

There's analogue pass-through on some boxes, although NTL installed a splitter for the analogue when they installed my digital.

It's RF OUT, but is not 100% pass through .. C4, E4 & Discovery are still on the VHF Band I in my area, and they're filtered out on that output.

See the first post in this thread, he suggests that only the analog channels pass through.

I got a Pace DC221 box on Friday last to give me digital instead of analog in the bedroom. When I connected the RF OUT co-ax from the Pace box to the TV I can pickup all of the analog channels that I had the TV tuned to, about 20 of them including C4, E4 and Discovery, everything is there that I picked up via Autotune a few months ago. The analog channels are there if the digital box is off or on so it's passive passthrough, similar to the old way you ran the co-ax through the VCR to the TV.

I was talking about the Thomson DVR which is what the OP was asking about. The new Pace boxes may indeed be different, my old silver one I had before I got the DVR was.
