    hi,
i have old brown aerial cable going from my sat box in the attic about 20m to my sitting room. i can get a clear picture on the tv but cant use my magic eye to change channel, except for a very rare occasion.
i wanted to replace it with new sat cable. however the existing wire is cement into to wall and cant be pulled out. it has to go round a chimney brest...messy.
so my only real option is to either leave the old wire, or to run the new sat cable the 20m to the top of the wall and connect the new and old wire?
    would this improve the quality?
    any other ideas?
    many thanks.

Is the sat box in the roof space directly above the sitting room?

You could use a wireless TV sender like this to give you picture and stereo sound via SCART connector and you can use your sky remote control.

The range on these is limited and will be severely reduced by concrete walls.
If you have other 2.4Ghz wireless equipment close by (wifi network, portable phones, etc.) they will interfere with the signal.
A microwave oven will also cause serious interference while in use.

If you plan to leave your sky box where it is Ignore magic eyes and wireless extenders, You said you already have a clear picture and sound so get your self this kit it extendends your remote signal I use them a fair bit on Jobs and they work great http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_2_7?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=powermid+xl+infrared+extender+set&sprefix=powermi. Would you not consider moving your sky box to your main tv{connected to tv through Scart} and feeding it back to your attic again through rf output.

thanks scaller. i use the sat box for tv in 3 rooms....
    that amazon links sounds perfect.
for the 20m run of brown cable is the idea the less connections the better? was thinking of running new sat cable to top of wall and cutting and joinning it to old brown cable. would this be a waste of time?

You say in your first post that yor magic eye is your problem if so leave everything as it is and just get a set of powermids and plug them in.
Ideally the way it should have been installed was for the installer to put your sky box at your main tv and return feed the sky signal to your attic to one of these http://www.dastv.co.uk/shop/Global_F140_4_Way_F_Type_Amplifier_401.php
which will feed your other tv's
