4 pin molex to 15 pin sata adapter... did you not get it with your mobo? Does your mobo have sata ports?

<edit> Sorry, just saw your pc spec... it does have sata ports... so one of these would help:

Im guessing you are trying to install another hard drive?

that connector in the first pic is for powering an ide hard drive (really bad picture)
your computer specs show a sata hard drive with the pc.You need to use the same type of connector for the new drive

look at your original drive and see if you have a spare sata power connector from your power suply

you will also need a sata cable from your new drive to the motherboard

I bought the sata cable btw..

But it turns out, there are two sata power cables, one in the old hard drive and one in the cd/dvd drive. And HP put a ****ing molex in the place of where the spare sata should be. So now I have to buy a molex to sata converter (probably from maplins because I aint paying €15 shipping on a €2 cable). MY god, I knew bought PC's were bad, but this is a new time low.

+1 for maplins. Only posted link to dx, cause it's cheap and free delivery (but you have to wait for it).

    1. Take out SATA power from CD/DVD drive and put in new dvd drive, format hard drive.
    2. Take out SATA power from OLD HD and put in cd/dvd drive, install win7 via disk.
    3. Take out SATA power from cd/dvd drive and put back in old HD.

Then I could live without the CD/DVD drive for a week or two until the weather clears up so I can get to Limerick and get a molex to sata.

    So, is this safe?

100%, but you can also install win7 from usb... google it, it's very simple... provided you have 4gb (or larger) usb stick/hd.
