I never realized poker was so popular until I started reading here. But there isn't a huge amount of threads started on a daily basis (imo), so I just thought we could get a discussion going.

Seeing as I'm new here and not familiar with the regulars, I was just wondering what everyone prefers to play?

    Be it online or live?
Full ring or 6 max cash games?
    STT/MTT?
    FL/PL/NL?
    Micro/Low/High?

Personally, I've only been at it a few weeks now, playing micro NLHE. Haven't played live yet but will soon I'm sure. I did play in a MTT there the other day and finished only just outside a prizepool place(:(), I think I'll wait until I've learned a little more before trying again! :)

Heads Up and MTT's are my preference. I think you should learn to play low stakes STT's starting off. Really soft and handy enough to beat and will teach you the game.

Former midstakes 6-max NLHE grinder until it crushed my soul. Now playing 8-game on Stars. Occasional foray into live action that I usually regret when I remember how boring live poker can be when its going bad.

Mostly full-ring live play. I clearly suck though.

Totally agree with Zuutroy about live play although the mixed game we got going was a good laugh.

STT's, Cash HU...as well as the odd MTT & 6 Max Cash Game. Generally low stakes grinder. Play live occasonially. Generally NLHE, altho statring to play PLO a bit more then normal lately.

I might be a bit odd but I grind the lowstakes HORSE and stud games and the holdem HU shootouts.

    .50/1 to 2/4 NLHE, but mostly 1/2
    .50/1 PLO
Any good tourney that runs online. Max I'd usually go for is €300, but I make exceptions every now and again. PLO, Mixed, LHE, NLHE. Wouldn't really play anything else in tourney format.
2/4-5/10 LHE, and very rarely 10/20
The odd SNG, but I suck. Usually play €25 or €50 6max turbos, but some €20-100 HUSNGs too.
    8game
    PL 7stud
Very rarely live tournaments, and rarer again, live cash.

Those are in order of how often I play them. I'm pretty happy I'm profitable in all of the games I play except SNGs, where I've lost money, but I still think I might have edge. Oh and I really suck at PLO8 :(

    don't play cash games
mostly $75 multi table sngs (thats where i will usually be found)
a few $26 mtts thrown in aswell (won a few of these, nice when you win or make the top 6 but normally very demoralising average field size 2000ish)
ohh, and the 750K on sunday nights (finished 7th in this event one night) but i hav'nt played this for the last 6 or 8 weeks but i probably will tomorrow night:D
    sometimes $50 and $100 sngs
all NLHE could never get the hang of omaha
    don't multi table much either
nor do i do this for a living but i do put in an awfull lot of hours every week:D

Stopped playing Holdem cash...Only play low stakes Omaha hi/lo cash
Play Omaha hi/lo SNGs and Deepstack NLH SNGs 2/6/9 handed
Play tons of mtts/satellites of every game but no direct buyin higher than $55
Play up to 12 tables max
Dont get out much to play live these days

  • 5c/10c NLHE
    2c/5c PLO
    10c/25c NLHE
    $1 HU PLO SnGs
    $4.40 180man NLHE SnGs

    Again, in order of frequency.

I'm not averse to trying other games/limits as long as I'm only playing them for a small percentage of my small bankroll

Live tourney at least once a week in either a local casino or Molloy's in Tallaght (60-100 players).

Play a monthly live €170 tourney that gets 50-70 players. Wouldn't be a big fan of live 1-2 cash NLHE but I will play it if there is a game on and I'm knocked out of a tournament.
Then as many festivals based in or around Dublin as I can. 7 last year (2 small cashes but not the ones I wanted to cash in:().

Online mostly $16 turbo sng 9 handed on stars. Sometimes I'll just play a few 180man $12 turbos for a couple of hours at a time just to vary it a little.
$10 turbo sng 6 max on ipoker. Maybe play 20 of these then take a break for an hour.
Occasionally I play a $10 rebuy that I like on ipoker. Really soft game that I've had some nice cashes in.

A couple of €50 - €100 live tournies a month in The Eglinton in Galway mainly.

Currently 20 tabling turbo sngs. Always shocked when I check my results and see that I had a winning session.
