B&Q £40 60cm FTA system

Saw an FTA ststem in B&Q the other day for £40 (Cheaper than anything Lidl or Aldi offer AFaIK) The dish is 60-65 cm so should be good for Astra 2 anywhere in Ireland or the UK (might pick up the stronger Astra 1/Hotbird transponders as well ?)

Wouldnt suspect much in the way of features/build quality at this price but for experimentation or temporary setups it doesnt look bad at all.

I got one of these dishes today in B&Q for €50. Have to say very impressed, all set up and all by lunch. Excellant signal.

Is that a full "system" including receiver?

If you have patience and some common sense, it wont be to hard to set up. If you have a compass (One thats used for direction finding) and access to dishpointer.com, this will make it much easier. Read stickys on here and it shouldn't be too hard at all. But like ive told people before, the rough position the dish has to point there is around 10-15 satellites available, so if you get signal it may not be astra2, so thats when patience comes in to it!

My rule of thumb for finding 28.2 (Astra) is to point it at the sun at 12.00 midday, if you can see the sun! Depending on time of year you will then have to raise it gradually and possibly slightly left or right until you get the signal. On a Sly box have the services menu on and keep an eye on the signal strength bar. Move dish very slowly as the signal response is not instant, takes a few secs to come through.

Sat meter helps if you haven't got the patience to fiddle around!!!!

They are a very poor dish have seen them rot in a matter of weeks and the philex systems have very poor remote controls which I have also seen fail on a number of occassions, but all in all a bargain ....

Dave will not be available as it is not free-to-air.
