Just wondering if they overheat alot like the PS2 ones. I remeber in the socom 2 days i had to give them a break every few hours and just wondering if they are worth it.

Not sure about the Slim one, but i leave my 60gb on for days at a time sometimes.

I left my normal one on for 9 hours a time once and got the yellow flashing light, so i give it breaks every 6 hours or so now.

My 60 gb never gave me any problems (touchwood) but my slim does heat up quite quickly and starts whirring a lot trying to cool down. Also freezes a lot while using the internet.

Its a good idea to keep it in a well ventillated area and to give it (and yourself) a break every few hours.

If you keep it in a well ventilated area I can't see there being any problems. Also, the PS2 and PS3 are two completely different pieces of hardware, so I can't see the PS3 overheating if the PS2 did.

Yeah, as Bono Vox says, Keep it in a well ventilated area, and you wont have problems. I have my slim on all day more often then not :o:D

I have PlayTV hooked up to mine so can be on for most of the day and overnight at times and it never overheats.

Barely even gets warm at the back. I have it in a well ventilated area. I think as long as it isn't in a closed back cabinet it should be fine. Should be fine even if it is in a closed back cabinet but make sure there is space behind for air to flow.
