    Hi

More of a general query on ambilight. Does this only look good if on a wall or does it make any difference in a cabinet? Trying to decide between a 42 7404 and a 37 8404 but regardless of what I do get, they will be going into a cabinet like this. Will ambilight "work" in this case?

    Jim,

Thanks for the query and apologies for the delay getting back to you.

Ambilight looks great in a cabinet - however you must ensure that there is enough space around the edges of the TV to allow the light to be visible - I would suggest that you would need a minumum of about 10 Cms at each side to make the Ambilight work well.

Bothe the 7404 and the 8404 are excellent TV's - and whilst the 8404 does have Ambilight over the 7404 - it also has NET TV / web access built in as standard.

Thanks again for the query - good question and keep us posted if we can assist in any way,

    ATB,

Thanks John - no worries (also have a PM to you if you get a chance to come back on that)

Think the unit has at least 10cm each side on a 37 (unit is 120cm wide)so will get the top to bottom measurements and check it out. Final question is about the net tv - I know the 8404 is for wired connection through ethernet, but I also have a USB internet dongle - would that work on the USB port and activate the internet through there?

    Cheers

    Nicola on behalf of Ash:

    Hey McNulty,

The USB dongle won't work for you I'm afraid. All USB dongle internet connections need to work from a software base and since you can't install software on the TV it will simply try to recognise it as an external USB device.

Sorry about that. Please feel free to fire over any more questions you may have or you can give us a call on (01) 474 0788.

    Thanks a mil, Nicola.
