Got a phone call from a farmer I know yesterday evening. A weather hogget had died and the carcass has been completely stripped over night

When I say completely, I mean all that is left is a bit of twisted fleece, an upper skull and jawbone. Everything else, legs, brains, even his nose was gone into the night.

(Who was it said there was a shortage of foxes around me?).

Could we come and have a look before the hens get eaten too. Didn't see anything last night. Went on my own tonight in what has to be the coldest night I've ever been out. Saw my fox around 7.45pm, but he took an unexpected route and I lost him in some trees. C'est le vie.

The highlight of the night was having a fresh, steaming hot mug of tea on a bitterly cold, exposed hillside. Better than any cuppa you'll ever have at home I promise you.

And that's another reason to carry your battery in a backpack, room for the flask, milk and twix :D

(One of the 'effing straps did break but things don't always run smoothly in this outfit).

Ah we dont realise how much we take these little things for granted until we really need them. I wont go into hear but I know a great way also to warm the hands when there blue with the cold, the trick behind this one is to drink as much fluids before you go out. Ill say no more.:D

I use a jetboil when I'm out on the ground, great piece of kit!

the base of the cup is so efficient it boils water in about a minute so the gas lasts for ages!
Think they're around 60 quid on ebay now.
