I just read in the star  , that after irish troops were drooped off by a helicopter then came across a Chadian military patrol,

I was just wonder why flies them, is it a Un pilot or what, and in what heli, at a best guess i'd assume it's in a Mil Mi 17,

Any reply to either how the "confrontation" ( i think was how the star put it :rolleyes: ) came about or how the troops are flow, is well welcomed.

    Regards Shane

Our Air Corps pilots are there in an admin role, we have other ranks there for refuelling etc, but we definately have no Irish personnel flying helicopters in Chad.

Yes that is what their job was, it is an admin role. Not an acive flying role.
