    Hey

Iv a 98 fiesta and i went out to start it the other morning and not a stir out of it. The pipes in engine are all frozen, hadnt enough/very anti freeze in it. Is the car fecked or will it just need to be jumped when thaw's out? Im being told all sorts

If any one knows what going to happen id appreciate your help

    cheers!

if you can get the car in doors it will thaw in no time but better off not doing anything with it till you can get it thawed out at least, prob just a matter of draining the water and filling with coolant when thaw. If you start it now you could crack the engine- not cool, get it out of the weather if you can- like a shed or garage......

There are a whole list of nasty possibilities.

Just wait for it to thaw in a week or two and then see if you can get a jump and start it. If you cant then you can worry.

Dont even risk starting it until its been sitting in + temps for at least a day.

There is already a thread about it.

OP first things first, if there is not a murmer out of the car, then don't try to start it any further, as this could cause substantially more damage, as may have happened on another thread here, with the water pump being frozen solid.

My best advice is to get the car into a shed and get as much convective type heat around the car using domestic heaters, as you possibly can for 24-48 hours... Once you feel you have the cooling system defrosted, try to start the car. If you can, great, if you can't, you might have to try to jump start it.

If the car starts, let the engine run while watching very carefully for water leask under the car. If there are no leaks, you are likely out of the woods, if there are leaks, you'll need to get professional advice with regard to what the next step might be...

same thing happened me on xmas day, although i didnt know it til i was merrily driving to my parents house with the child and cat packed in with me, then the temperature climbed and the whole thing started steamin and sprayin water everywhere. ooops.

just went back the followin day and topped it up with antifreeze. no leaks, its fine!
