    Nice, for a Vietnam loadout i presume?
    I'm doing the very same thing you are, but i haven't got around to it. Its basically a matter of removing the original board and wiring in the modern radio to that. Its a doable job but you would need a little experience with soldering to wire up the controls to function with the new radio.,
    The arial would have to be a fake "for show" job aswell as current regulations state it has to be perminantly attached and not removable., easily done though.,:)

    cheers ive seen resin models being sold on e-bay and you can buy a speakerconnector
    to get them to work using the handset not sure if this works only on there resin model
    or on the one i have which is real with the guts ripped out
