Are road runners ok to use on a track or would I be better with spikes?

Plan is to use the track once a week.

It all depends on what you are doing on the track. If you are just running laps ie 3mile run then runners would be grand.
If you plan on doing intervals or reps then you might find a performace shoe sufficent ie ds trainer or Mizuno elixir or nike skylon.
Next level would be racing shoes and then spikes.
What i would do at the start of a season running longer reps ie 1600m down to 800m i would wear racing flats and slowly easy my calfs back into the routine, then i would introduce spikes when the reps get faster in a few weeks and the reps are shorter.hope this makes sense.

    Hi thirstywork,

I plan on doing reps and intervals on the track, so looks like the road runners may not be the best.

Do most sports jobs sell the likes of the ds trainer do you know?

    Cheers
