One plus of the Irish not going to Africa this summer

Emmanuel Adebayor escaped unharmed after a bus carrying the Togo national team came under attack from gunfire in Angola.

The Sparrow Hawks are in the country ahead of the African Cup of Nations which gets under way on Sunday, with Manchester City striker Adebayor amongst the travelling party.

Aston Villa have also confirmed that their 26-year-old midfielder Moustapha Salifou was "shaken but okay" following the attack.

According to reports, at least three Togo players and the bus driver suffered injuries during the attack.

If any of the Irish going to South Africa ended up in Angola there's something wrong.

I don't know...... maybe put McShane as the driver, possibly S. Ireland as navigator.

Bloody ryanair with their 'almost central' airports.

The heading is : "Adebayor unhurt in gun attack"

I don't really care, what about everyone else on the team?

Considering Adebayor and Toure are the only players people would recognise, it's not that surprising they're leading with that headline. 4 players injured and the bus driver was killed by the way, not sure which players at the moment though

Bus driver is the only confirmed death so far. This is horrible. Cup is overshadowed before it even begins.

Toure plays with the Ivory Coast.

Adebayor was probably in league with the gun men.

What with him being a mercenary and all. ;)
Pretty sad that you are trying to get a cheap laugh at the expense of a team that have been shot and have seen the most frightening aspect of life, Death.

There's another Toure playing for Togo. It's a common surname in that part of the world.

I don't think Assimiou Toure is particularly well known over here in fairness

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Not my point. The name is common so no surprise there is a Toure on the time, and it was an easy mistake to think it was the one we know.

A terrible thing to happen in any case and i hope the other casualties recover.

i don't agree at all, with all the *hit going on in the world this is minor in comparison, are we all meant to bow our heads for a minute or something, get a grip
And btw death might be the most frightening thing to you but not most people
Personally for me it would be something to happen to either of my kids, compared to that death to me would be incomparable
